Discrimination and housing rights
Since 1 May 2026, landlords and letting agents in England must not discriminate against people because they have children or receive benefits.
- This includes refusing to let, stopping viewings, or withholding information about whether a property is available.
- The Equality Act 2010 also protects against discrimination for protected characteristics across Great Britain.
