Landlord responsibilities and safety requirements
Landlords in England have safety duties, including gas safety, electrical safety, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and providing an Energy Performance Certificate.
- The official page lists what your landlord must do and what they must give you.
- A PRS Database for landlords is planned from late 2026. Check GOV.UK for whether it applies yet in your area.
- SouthLet can help you store and find these records. It does not check or confirm that a landlord is compliant.
