Deposits and deposit protection

In England, if you have an assured shorthold or assured tenancy, your landlord must put your deposit in a government-approved tenancy deposit protection scheme.

  • The official page sets out the time limits and the information your landlord must give you.
  • If you disagree about deductions at the end, the scheme offers a free dispute service.
